Position Summary:
The Millwork Estimator & Purchasing Coordinator plays a critical role in our production process by ensuring every project has the correct materials, quantities, and purchasing completed on time.
This person will review drawings, estimate material requirements, order materials from vendors, receive deliveries, verify accuracy, and help maintain organized inventory so production stays on schedule.
Responsibilities:
Review architectural drawings and shop drawings.
Estimate lumber, plywood, hardwoods, veneers, laminates, hardware, and other required materials.
Prepare accurate material takeoffs.
Order materials from vendors while maintaining budgets and schedules.
Compare pricing and negotiate with suppliers when appropriate.
Track purchase orders and delivery dates.
Receive incoming deliveries and verify quantities and quality.
Organize and maintain inventory.
Coordinate closely with project managers, shop supervisors, and production staff.
Help resolve material shortages and ordering issues quickly.
Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory records.
Continuously identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
Qualifications:
Experience in architectural millwork, cabinetry, woodworking, or commercial construction.
Ability to read architectural and shop drawings.
Strong understanding of wood products, sheet goods, laminates, veneers, hardware, and millwork materials.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Comfortable using computers and estimating software.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Experience:
Commercial millwork estimating
Purchasing or procurement
Inventory management
Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Cabinet Vision, Microvellum, or similar software
ERP or inventory management systems
