A few thousand dollars in brand new still in the box parts already researched, sourced and obtained, ready to make your own, all the manufacturers have easy to follow instruction sheets and videos, you just need the time and basic hand tools. These were not just cheap for looks parts, they were all designed and built for serious off road capability and abuse.
I bought everything you see from my neighbor who was collecting all the parts to begin the build but lost his job and needed money more than a project. The reality is I just started building my house myself so it’ll be 3 years before I’ll have a spare moment to work on this and rather than have it constantly taunting me I thought I’d list it for sale. I’ll be happy if it sells, I’ll be happy if it don’t.
I was told it runs and drives great, but is in the tore down ready to begin building stage, so it’s just a roller at the moment but everything is here and looks good. The carpet and interior trim all removed, hardware bagged and labeled, has a beadliner kit he was going to do the interior with. The ONLY minor problem I see with it is a quarter sized rust hole on the passenger side floor. It looks like something spilled on the floor from the inside because the underside isn’t rusted at all. Leave it, patch it or a brand new floor pan is available for just $60 on Amazon.
To just get it running and driving you’d need to put the fuel tank back in and install the brake lines, all new parts are there. Fuel tank removed and cleaned, brand new still in the box fuel pump, new never installed brake lines are ready to go, these parts are off so the XJ frame stiffener kit is ready to be installed.
The ONLY part you will still need to buy is a custom length CV rear drive shaft ($300 from Tom Woods). Nothing wrong with the driveshaft on it now, but you’ll want the CV shaft after installing the included Advance Adapters Slip Yoke Eliminator kit. Don’t have the new shaft yet because you’ll need to measure yoke to yoke after everything is installed so Tom Woods can build it for you. I’d also put in a “Red 56” speedometer gear ($28) for the 33” tires while having the old 1 out installing the SYE kit.
4” short arm lift kit with brand new 33” X 12.5” tires on it now, skyjacker coils, shocks and stabilizer on the front, Iron Rock Offroad Boomerang Shackle on the rear. JKS swaybar disconnects, Steinmeijer 1.25 DOM track bar, LED headlights, snorkel, working front flat tow hitch (requires a 2” ball and you can tow it yourself home).
This is the model and year of choice for XJ enthusiast. 4.0 I6 Engine, AW4 Automatic Transmission, NP231J Transfer Case, Dana 30 front, Chrysler 8.25” rear.
