Seeking a Child-Free Home for Nanee

Nanee came into our lives in 2017 after we adopted her from a shelter. At the time, it was just my husband and me. She quickly became part of our family and has been loved ever since.
About two years after we adopted her, Nanee got loose and disappeared. We searched, hoped, and eventually accepted that we might never see her again. Then, completely unexpectedly, we received a call this past March that she had been found. Her microchip led back to us, and after all those years, she was reunited with our family.
Life looks very different now than it did in 2017. We now have three children, including a 10-month-old baby. Since returning home, Nanee has shown that she is not comfortable living with young children. She has snapped at our baby three times and nearly bit him on one occasion. She has also snapped at and bitten our 6-year-old.
Because of these incidents, we cannot safely keep her in our home. Our children’s safety has to come first.
We consulted with our veterinarian regarding her behavior. Due to her age and the bite history involving children, euthanasia was recommended as an option. However, this has been heartbreaking for us because outside of being around children, Nanee is a healthy, loving dog. We believe she deserves the opportunity to live out her remaining years in the right environment.
Nanee is estimated to be around 10–12 years old and appears to be some type of herding dog mix. She is affectionate, loyal, and very protective of the adults she bonds with. She enjoys companionship and wants to be near her people. She simply needs a home without children.
We are looking for a responsible, experienced adult-only home where she can be safe, understood, and loved. We will be honest about her history because finding the right fit is far more important to us than finding a quick placement.
