John Lord used the organ in Deep Purple
King Crimson used the Mellotron on Court Of The Crimson King
Jimmy Page used the guitar in Zeppelin on the Heartbreaker riff
and John Paul Jones used the heavy strings in Zeppelin for Kashmir
Very out front stuff
