Excellent condition 1964 Fender Stratocaster in a very nice nitrocellulose fiesta red refinish. This 1964 Fender Stratocaster started life as a three tone sunburst, and was originally purchased in early 1965 with it's transitional black tolex case. With the orignal single coil pickups, this guitar boasts that signature Strat sound everyone chases. From the shimmer of the bridge position, to the mellow sound in the neck, this Strat not only looks the part, but speaks the part. The body was professionally refinished some time in the late 90's in this very unique faded Fiesta Red. In a normal setting and from a certain perspective, the guitar appears as a salmon dark salmon color, but once you look at it in a different light, it bursts out in that iconic Fiesta Red color we all know and love. The finish is a thin layer of nitrocellulose, which is period correct to the time, and shows natural wear like most guitars of the era. The neck also received a partial refin, with an overspray on the back. Unfortunately, the ink stamp on the heel was sanded off in the process, but the date was rewritten with a graphite pencil, much like the guitars prior to 1962. The date is mostly legible, with the month and year being August of 1963. This neck also features the unmistakable router jig pin holes on the back of the headstock and heel. Aside from the fact that the neck was over sprayed, it feels slick to the touch, and with that signature 60's profile, is very comfortable to play. The neck also retains what I believe to be the original frets and nut, and are paired with a beautifully dark Brazilian Rosewood radius fretboard. I must also mention that the truss rod is in great health, and has lots of room to be adjusted incase you want to change from 10-46. this neck also retains the original 6-inline Kluson single line kidney button tuners. The electronics are 100% original to this guitar, and with the exception of the claw ground wire and jack leads, have not been touched. The claw ground and jack were more than likely unsoldered during the refin, but carefully put back to stock. All potentiometers are fully functional and all have the code "304-6344, which means... 304 (Stackpole brand), 63 (year of production), and 44 (week of the year). The pickups are the three original black bobbin pickups are in untouched condition, with original windings and leads, and all read "APR 30 '64", which ties into the correct "Spaghetti" logo. This wiring harness also features the original 3-way toggle switch and SK1X50V capacitor. Comes with original Fender hardshell case as pictured. Willing to ship or drive a reasonable distance. Always open to offers!
Miscellaneous: The plastics are mostly original, with the exception of the pickguard, which was replaced sometime in the 2000's after the original had cracked significantly. although the hues of the knobs differ slightly, they are original. The bridge is original and features the "Pat. Pend / Fender" saddles, one of which has replaced height screws. Included is the original trem arm, bridge cover (ashtray), and yellow cleaning cloth.
