Is your child struggling with reading, writing or spelling?
Does your child need, or are they experiencing:
- Reading intervention?
- ADHD support?
- Pandemic reading catch-up?
- Learning loss or decline-in-reading test scores?
If you answer "yes" to any of the above, consider the following:
“If your intuition says that you should seek reading and language help, don’t ignore it or wait. The crucial window of time to get help is kindergarten and first grade. Those beyond third grade will require much more intensive help; the longer you wait to get help, the harder it will be for the child to catch up.
Three research conclusions that support seeking help early:
• 90% of children with reading difficulties will achieve grade level in reading if they receive help by first grade.
• 75% of children whose help is delayed to age 9 or later struggle throughout their school careers.
• If help is given in 4th grade rather than in late kindergarten, it takes four times as long to improve the same skills by the same amount.
You cannot afford to waste valuable time waiting for the problem to cure itself; it won’t. Intensive intervention must be offered immediately. It is harmful to struggle privately with an unidentified problem and wait an additional year when it is even harder to get caught up. It takes less effort, and costs less to bring a child up to grade level if intervention tutoring is offered early on.” (Excerpt from http://www.Greatschools.net by S. Hall).
