Customer called in for quote on water pump on 5.0 and it is common for the 2 long bolts to get seized in block thru timing cover i told him that visit that studs were wanting round off and that i had to stop, 1 because it was almost midnight and 2 i had no other means of removing studs other than heat till parts stores opened. I also told him that i had to drive my wife to florida the next day because her mom was in hospital and that i would try to send my helper there to to try double nut method to get studs removed with out them snapping off.
Anyway that didnt happen but i winded up going back over there when i got back in town and advised him that if the studs snapped that it maybe required to remove timing cover to finish job and that the labor would increase. He wasnt for that, i tried several things including welding nuts onto the studs but bolt snapped. Knowing that he didnt want to shell out anymore money i drilled a couple of holes to try to get penetrating oil to the source of the seize. Bottom line i reassembled vehicle and advised him that epoxy and silicone needed till morning to cure and if we had any leaks then it would be required to remove timing cover , and still he wasnt for that. I feel bad for customer but i spent a lot of time trying salvage the situation & i feel made every attempt to help the customer.

I have been doing this a long time and i work to midnight to service customers and i truly always have my customers best interest at heart. I am guilty of spreading myself to thin, but i always try my best.
