West Precinct detectives believe an old pickup truck may hold the key to solving the January 18th murder of James Edward Shearon and are asking for the public’s assistance in locating it.
Shearon, 61, and his wife were asleep in their 1210 Watts Terrace home in the early morning hours of January 18th when they heard a person or persons kick open their back door. Shearon went to investigate and was fatally shot in the kitchen.
The pickup truck was seen in the neighborhood of the shooting and appeared out of place. It is a 1960s or 1970s model, possibly a Ford, and was primer gray as if it were in the process of being restored. The truck had 20”-22” chrome “spinner” wheels. It was seen occupied by two men, one white and one black.
Anyone with information on this pickup truck, or the murder of James Shearon, is urged to contact West Precinct Detective Brad Putnam at 862-7389 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
