| Featuring a completely unique floor plan with a distinct focus on the kitchen, this home was custom designed and built by Brad Jacob in 1993. Hailing from the Gulf Coast, Brad was a professional chef with a marked Cajun-Creole influence in his culinary style. In his career, Brad designed and built well-thought-out professional kitchens. Upon seeing his success with kitchen construction, he next took on the challenge of building an entire home. Brad Jacob designed and built this home for himself and his family. While living in Horseshoe Bend, Brad formed a Gourmet Club that met regularly at his home. He would entertain his guests in his kitchen while he prepared a fabulous gourmet meal. This was typically served at one end of the Grand Hall which served as his formal dining area. At times, Brad would become a little homesick for his beloved Gulf Coast inspired cuisine. He would then make good use of the built-in “cooking pit” in the kitchen using his gas cooker for Crawfish & Shrimp Boils, Deep-Fried Turkey, or perhaps a large pot of Gumbo. This area was thoughtfully designed to include a gas jet, drain and faucet for easy clean-up as well as a super vented exhaust hood. He claims he has occasionally used the pit to also clean up dirty dogs and children. This kitchen has truly been the heart of this home. A frequent guest to his Gourmet Club parties was George Lindsey – also known as “Goober” in the Andy Griffith of Mayberry television show. Downstairs you will find a tribute to his friend in one of the tandem garages (which is heated and cooled and was used to store antique cars!). Brad Jacob continues to build custom homes in Middle Tennessee. He has invited any interested buyers to contact him with construction questions regarding this house.
