Gary Allen, drummer from The Charlie Daniels Band and JJ Cale, is seeking original songs to evaluate for use by bands, soundtracks and licensing through his professional connections as a BMI writer/performer. BMI reports a song that features Gary on drums is played every 4 seconds somewhere on planet Earth. His recorded works can be found on Epic, Sony, Buddah, Mercury, Polygram, K -Tel, Shelter, Blue Hat, CBS and Polydor Records. His second recorded work, Fire On The Mountain, remains the most popular of the CDB catalog and is played daily on classic rock and country radio playlists. Gary has performed on tour along with The Rolling Stones, Joe Walsh, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Eric Clapton, The Allman Brothers Band, Marshall Tucker Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blue Oyster Cult, Willie Dixon, The Outlaws, John Lee Hooker, Peter Frampton, Eddie Money, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Ted Nugent, Bob Seger, REO Speedwagon, Kansas, Bruce Springsteen, Little Feat, War, Yes, and ZZ Top.
Gary's track with The CDB, The Orange Blossom Special, is taught at western swing clubs worldwide. The CDB and the music of JJ Cale is featured bumper music on Coast To Coast AM, the biggest late night radio talk show in history. JJ Cale's latest release is the Eric Clapton/JJ Cale CD The Road to Escondido. Cale's hits include Cocaine, Call Me The Breeze and After Midnight. Gary is featured on several JJ Cale CD's including Grasshopper, Shades, Strummin' On The Porch and The Silver Anthology Classic Artists Series. Cale won a Grammy this year for his Road To Escondido CD, a collaboration with guitar great Eric Clapton. The JJ Cale CD Shades features Gary, Russ Kunkle (James Taylor),
Hal Blaine ( Paul Revere & The Raiders, The Monkees ), and Jim Keltner ( The Traveling Wilbury's, George Harrison, John Lennon) along with
Leon Russell on piano. Gary and Nick Rather who have been the rhythm section for Cale and have toured extensively with the Reluctant Legend ,
have worked together since they were in junior high school; Nick is now touring with the most famous of Jerry's kids, Gary Lewis & The Playboys.
Selected songs will receive a written evaluation by Gary Allen and will be passed on to additional contacts such as publishers, managers, A&R, radio, tv, songwriters, engineers and booking agents. The monthly winner of the best submitted original song will be posted in Gary's monthly musicians newsletter The Music City Beat! that goes out to 1,000+ hand picked members of the Nashville and international music community managers, A&R, engineers, publishers, disc jockeys, program directors, songwriters and musicians. Also, the winner will be posted on Tennessee's most popular music events site Tennessee Concerts and will be listed in Sonic Bids IT WORKS! newsletter with a worldwide audience.
